About Tara

Tara Pettiford is the owner/stylist of Tara's House of StyleZ a full service natural hair salon and hair loss restoration clinic, located in Baltimore. Tara is also the founder/organizer of Natural Is Beautiful events.

Tara was born with the gift of styling hair. At the tender age of eight years old, Tara taught herself to braid hair, her first job was braiding hair around the neighborhood. Her natural hair journey began in 2005. It wasn't until February 1, 2011 when she opened Tara's House of Stylez, that she began styling natural hair full time. She received professional training from Malaika Tamu Cooper and received her certification as a loctician. She also received professional training from Celebrity Makeup artist Renny Vasquez and received her certification as a professional makeup artist.

Her professional back ground as an Trainer at Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield gave her the analytical and systematic skills to be an event coordinator and as a result Tara planned three successful natural hair events in 2012, 2013, and 2014. All events were featured on Essence.com under their "Street Style" segment and on radio stations such as Magic 95.9 in Baltimore.

Tara's ultimate goal is to open a full-time natural hair school and give natural hair and beauty workshops all over the globe.
